Hi All. Talk about earthquakes playing tricks on you the one we had tonight sure pulled a good one on me. When I first felt it I though it was going to be a pretty large one. As soon as I felt it I clicked on Mori and waited for it show it self. I felt the quake for about 4 seconds, but it was at least 3 minutes before it showed up on Mori.
Then I got to thinking maybe it wasn't a local quake but a much larger one further away. So here I sat waiting for Mori to start showing something and nothing was going on. By now everything was peaceful and quiet. Then all at once Mori came to life. From what it looked at the beginning it gave me the impression it was a large quake until the “S” wave showed up. Then I knew it wasn't a large quake. I watched it until it had almost finished, then I got an email notice telling me there had been a 3.6M quake near San Juan Bautista.
Every time we have a quake in the area I always try to guess where it was at just by the way it felt. I do pretty good with the quakes south of us, but not so good with quakes at other locations. Before the quake ended I was thinking it was a large quake much further away then I first thought. Boy was I wrong. It turned out it was almost at my front door. I have a feeling some people living in San Juan Bautista are going to have some floors to clean up as the quake was about 2 miles west of them. Take Care...Don
