Beginning To Think Prediction Is A Waste Of Time, Effort And Money

Hi All. I'm beginning to think earthquake prediction is a waste of time, effort and money.

The Chile quake was predicted by a geologist in Chile. He went through the channels of the Chilean government, but they didn't put out a warning. Once again they are being warned and it appears they are listening this time.

Dr. Kerry Sieh had warned the people of Sumatra about 6 months prior to the Boxing Day quake, but no one listened. He has also warned about the next one and there will be a next one. The tsunami that will be produced by that quake could be the Grand Daddy of them all.

California and the whole west coast had better start preparing for our quake. It could be a major quake, or it could be a megaquake. It really doesn't matter which one it is as it appears the people are not getting ready for it.

My personal feeling is that the residents of California have heard so much about the next major quake that they ignore all predictions. I know most of the people in Hollister do.

We have a population of little more then 34,000 and when a spokesman from USGS came to Hollister to talk about preparing for the next major quake there were less than 15 people who attended. I will admit we have a lousy system for getting the word out about meetings and such. We have two newspapers and they only come out once a week. You can get the news on the internet, but I doubt anyone bothers with it. They have a long commute from here to where they work. For some it's a 2 hour drive one way.

The Calaveras fault is moving north and it is starting to rise. That started last year. When you cross it, you know you crossed it. The bump is very pronounced. Don in creepy town

Don, kinda reminds me of you know, "crying wolf". Also reminds me of God warning and warning people to get ready for "HIM". Not many listen. They will wake up after it hits! We humans need to be slapped upside the head to wake up! A nice 8 pointer that ruptures 300 miles will be a waker upper!
