    1st Debate October

Hi, not sure if you all could stand to keep your eyes on last night's debate.

Mitt Romney performed as he usually does (from his days back in Massachusetts here), with business-like delivery, although I've never seen him have to re-phrase his position so many times as he had to in order to prevent President Obama from mis-stating his positions.

I was happy that Mr. Romney explained that the new Medicare reimbursement rates to doctors in Obama's Affordable Health Care Act meant that 50% of them stated that they'd have to stop treating their Medicare patients. In addition, I'm glad he mentioned that the Business owners saw the $2000/employee fee for letting their employees shift for themselves as far as healthcare goes, means that millions more "unexpected" additions would show up on the Federal Government's insurance rolls.

President Obama was excellent in selling his ability to help raise the standards in education and level the playing field in society. However, his record has seen onerous increases in student loan interest rates, and a cut in funding for vouchers for disabled children attending special ed programs.

I am thinking that he didn't grasp any of the financials for any of his own programs or Romney's.

President Obama was excellent in selling his ability to help raise the standards in education and level the playing field in society.

I didn't understand his proposal to hire teachers...see quote from debate transcript.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, let me talk specifically about what I think we need to do.

First, we've got to improve our education system. And we've made enormous progress drawing on ideas both from Democrats and Republicans that are already starting to show gains in some of the toughest-to- deal-with schools. We've got a program called Race to the Top that has prompted reforms in 46 states around the country, raising standards, improving how we train teachers. So now I want to hire another hundred thousand new math and science teachers and create 2 million more slots in our community colleges so that people can get trained for the jobs that are out there right now. And I want to make sure that we keep tuition low for our young people.

100,000 teachers divided by 50 states = 2000 teachers per state (dividing equally just for purpose of an example). 2,000,000 slots divided by 50 states = 40,000 students per state. 1st, WHO is going to pay for this?...and 2nd, am I the only one that thinks those numbers are totally unrealistic?

I was an unenthusiastic Romney voter until last night. Now he has my full support mainly based on his answer to the "role of Government" question. If he believes what he said about that last night, he believes as I do and that's good enough for me.

In other news, is this the reason Prez. Obama was "rattled"????

Was Obama rattled by developing donor scandal story?

According to the sources, a taxpayer watchdog group conducted a nine-month investigation into presidential and congressional fundraising and has uncovered thousands of cases of credit card solicitations and donations to Obama and Capitol Hill, allegedly from unsecure accounts, and many from overseas. That might be a violation of federal election laws.

President Obama himself has got community training going in kind of a scary way.

    Newly minted FEMA Corps graduates

    http://blog.fema.gov/2012/09/what-were-watching-91412.html

Vicksburg, Miss., Sep. 13, 2012 -- Induction Ceremony for the inaugural class of FEMA Corps members. FEMA Corps members assist with disaster preparedness, response, and recovery activities, providing support in areas ranging from working directly with disaster survivors to supporting disaster recovering centers to sharing valuable disaster preparedness and mitigation information with the public.

Lastly, all of us at FEMA are excited about the first class of FEMA Corps graduates that were newly minted earlier this week. FEMA Corps is a program that combines the expertise of FEMA and AmeriCorps to equip groups of young people to deploy into areas affected by disasters and assist the community with recovery. The new members, who range in age from 18-24 years old, will contribute to a dedicated, trained, and reliable disaster workforce by working full-time for ten months on federal disaster response and recovery efforts...

These are the leaders who will load us on the buses and trains to the relocation centers. Current President has a lot riding on his "education" programs and would like to boost them. Plus, engaging more teachers also helps the union, which is one of his biggest concerns.

But not all of this is bad. There's plenty of people who keep their own minds despite all the "minders."

I thought it would be important to state the contrast between Romney's approach and Obama's approach to policy. President Obama has done "whatever" with no thought to the costs to taxpayers, and his teacher program is a good example of his thinking. If you want to decide about things, then you need to see the contrasts, and that's the contrast. For the Jobs bill on shovel-ready, it was a similar proposal -- and it cost $738,000 per job to administer. I always wonder who got the difference above the worker's annual pay. http://reason.com/blog/2012/08/21/more-stimulus-spending-madness-738000-fo

I myself am rather disgusted with the big swipe of money, but then, I'm mindful also that Derivatives were never outlawed for trading. So the entire M3 supply is funny money right now. But President Obama seems to want to educate "Corps" of people. I don't think its benevolent, since the Executive Orders he issues point at a set-up for a take-over.

I probably will vote for Romney in this atmosphere. When the Chinese show up ready to claim some land in return for their unsecured debt, he won't cede my farm or yours in some emminent domain parcel. Pretty sad that I end up thinking this way, but I think our population really doesn't get how serious the budget failures are.

Yes, I've been thinking about this and also reading some news articles that relate to this in a way.

I'm going to post something in the thread about endtimes that relates to this later this afternoon.

The population has been dumbed down to not care about issues like that. Reminds me of my own mother who refuses to let anyone tell her bad news about anything that's going on in the world. She doesn't want to hear about it or know about it. She just wants to live out her remaining years in la la land watching Hoarders and Honey Boo Boo...sigh I guess maybe if I was at the end like her, I'd do the same, but sadly many that feel the same way as her are not at the end of their lives...they just don't want to live in reality.
