The May 10 annular solar eclipse, corresponding to the new moon at 19° 31’ Taurus (conjunct Mars and Mercury) opens the first major geocosmic stress window of the month. Every eclipse is similar to a SuperMoon (though generally less potent) with regard to increasing the odds for damaging storms with high winds and heavy precipitation, as well as moderate to severe seismic activity (magnitude 5 and up) and volcanic eruptions. Solar eclipses have a shock window extending seven days before and after the exact alignment – sometimes longer, depending on any significant lunar factors (e.g. declination extremes, equatorial crossings) immediately before or after the boundaries of the seven day window. In the case of the May 10 eclipse, the shock window begins on the 3rd but extends into the 20th, in consequence of the Moon’s southward crossing of the celestial equator on the 19th. This is a long cycle, to be sure. The 5th, 10th, 12th , 19th – give or take a day or two in each case – look like the focal points for storm and seismic stress during this particular eclipse shock window.

A couple of woozies since yesterday, one a very deep source. I'm recovering from a flu bug that was making the rounds at my work. So maybe that's the issue not pending quakes. Yes quakes, in the ocean ones. 2-3 days from now. Or in the next few minutes.

Been plagued with eartones lately, so guess sometins comin down.

wheeeeeeeeeeee: getting surprising persistent high freq. eartones. It is 'bout one p.m your time here. (and 4 p.m local) Didn't notice such a long whine until just the past half hour.

Kind of makes you long for a location where the waves are crashing on the beach so you don't have to hear the whine.

YOU called it correctly there... CRASHES ... in our case - lucky near misses. The same exact spot in the same exact lane at the split second variable of timing was the grace that saved me and the car, but during my recent pleasure trip to the Green Mountains (mount vert, i.e. Vermont), it seems everybody was taking a deli number to do that kind of trick driving. Luckily [i] kept my wits about me and only screamed semi-boisterously when the big black truck whose side view mirror was taller than than the roof of my car barely avoided scraping the passenger side with his driver door chrome trim bars as he whizzed from the on ramp to the position he envied -- two inches before my front right bumper...

so a little wild driving was in the cards.... hope everyone else is getting along OK with the store lines, the traffic, the downright weird weather which has us all wondering what the poor green growing plants are able to do to protect themselves.

Sun fires off fourth major solar flare of the week--more expected

There she goes again!

The same region of the sun that brought you three powerful solar flares in a 24-hour span from Sunday night to Monday evening let loose Tuesday night with another explosive flash of ultraviolet radiation and sent tons of its own solar material flying through space.

The flare, which peaked at 6:48 p.m. EDT, was the fourth this week to be categorized as X-class, the most powerful type of solar flare.

As usual, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory caught beautiful images of the sun's fireworks, which you can see above. (The flare is the area of bright white at the far left of the image).

Like its three predecessors, this solar flare was associated with a coronal mass ejection -- a mixture of plasma and other solar material released by the sun at the time of a solar flare. A report on SpaceWeather.com noted that although the sunspot from which the coronal mass ejection originated is not facing Earth directly, it is possible that part of it may be headed toward our planet.

When a coronal mass ejection hits Earth, it interacts with the planet's magnetic field, occasionally causing radio blackouts and, in extreme cases, disrupting power. It can also interfere with satellites and create beautiful, dynamic auroras.

Scientists have dubbed the active region of the sun that is creating these solar flares AR 11748. They still don't know much about this region or exactly why it is so active because it has just started to rotate into view from Earth.

"It's been hard to see completely because it was around the corner," Alex Young, a heliophysicist at Goddard Space Flight Center, told The Times on Tuesday afternoon. "We can see it is complicated, but it is hard to get a good picture -- we will have to wait till it rotates around."

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasters say there's a good chance that more solar flares are on their way. The agency says there is a 50% chance of X-class solar flares and an 80% chance of less powerful M-class solar flares, in the next 24 hours.

May is shaping up to be the most geophysically active month of the year to date. We’re talking a thicker than usual run of strong storms with high winds and heavy precipitation (big flood potential), plus a rash of moderate-to-severe earthquakes (Magnitude 5 and up), as well as volcanic eruptions. Tidal extremes too: much higher than normal tides, especially around the 2th. Any new or full moon ups the ante for these kinds of disturbances, but May features a couple of special cases. One is the first solar eclipse of the year, the new moon on the 10th. The second is the first SuperMoon of the year, which also just happens to be a lunar eclipse; namely the full moon on the 2th.

The choking during forgiveness and mercy prayer

unexpectedly, after a day of not being bothered by allergies or other irritants like common household cleaners, suddenly got a heavy and choking feeling while praying for divine mercy during the inception of the mass when God is petitioned by all the people present to have mercy.

This is very concerning, because I haven't ever had such a problem with a weird foreboding and heavy heart feeling during the starting prayers of the mass. It seemed to me at the moment that the infinite capacity of the merciful God has skipped pulses just for those contemplative moments in bringing the laden burdens of work, citizenship, family, and natural plant husbandry forth for examination and acceptance.

If you are thinking of the future week, then I foresee a big, heart-wrenching pause in our standard business of living. Hope I'm wrong, but there was a big blip on the radar, and I'm not one to assert implausibility of radar blips. So I'm letting you know. Keep your heart centered in your faith that this week will enable the heart-wrenching possibilities to be averted through mercy. When mercy feels scarce, it is time to ask the source of mercy for more of it.
