"Great Filament... Continued" Empty "Great Filament... Continued"

The sun filament is still hanging there.
Why do I feel like I'm hanging right in there with it?

GREAT FILAMENT, CONTINUED: For the seventh day in a row, an enormous magnetic filament is hanging suspended above the surface of the sun's southern hemisphere. The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) has a great view. How long can it last? Solar filaments are unpredictable. If this one collapses and hits the stellar surface, the impact could produce a powerful Hyder flare. Readers with solar telescopes are encouraged to monitor developments.

It collapsed earlier today - 3 flares have come off the sun from it - spaceweather is not sure if they are coming towards the Earth at this time.

Link to movie showing 3 flares

What spaceweather has to say about it

Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) images bracket the eruption between 0719 and 1919 UT on Feb. 24th. The event did not produce a bright solar flare, as sometimes happens when filaments erupt, but there was a coronal mass ejection (CME). SOHO coronagraphs observed at least one and possibly as many as three clouds billowing away from the sun: movie. If any of this material is heading for Earth--a big unknown!--it should arrive on Feb. 27th or 28th. Arctic sky watchers should be alert for auroras on those dates.

what will occur with the magnetosphere when the 3 flares are hitting it at one time - if they are coming towards the Earth?

"Great Filament... Continued" Empty The great filament takes aim - but to where?

I guess NASA and we will find out where those 3 CMEs are aimed at the same time. Unplug your small appliances folks. Rolling Eyes

They are too small to do any damage really. No warnings on space prediction sitehttp://www.swpc.noaa.gov/SWN/index.html

"Great Filament... Continued" Empty Good point! Small is beautiful - especially when it comes to CME's

did you read the pine tree dream
for some reason i'm putting those two things together.
three trees falling and creating a triangle.
gonna go over and read that again.

Someone on GLP tonight (Feb 25) had a photo from spaceweather of the Sun and a new filament had formed in the shape of a "Cross" - you can't mistake it as a cross. Sorry I don't have the URL for spaceweather, but maybe you can catch it on their archives. I think that there is a prophecy about a cross appearing in the heavens.

I just looked at soho sun pictures - I do not see another filament at all - either singular or in a cross.

Direct link to soho current sun pictures
