I owe a lot of my online forum education to Lin. As for Trapper, even though we do not agree on some things, I think that he is great as well.

Hi freemind - I think I saw them both on the newly re-opened Earthboppin' boards earlier today.

I feel like you do about not agreeing with fellow Earthboppers on everything (sometimes, on a lot of things!) but still thinking they are great. I tend to enjoy diversity and the thought-provoking exchanges that result when people don't all think alike!

It is amazing to me how this community of vastly different types have all gathered through the years around our interest in earthquakes...so many soap operas of varying types have spun off in the process, yet we can still manage to hang together, even in the wake of the sudden unexpected loss of our gathering place! (And Earthboppin' was itself a spin-off from Syzygy which was a spin-off from the original board...)

Also, I find it interesting that we were able to re-group, here and on skywise's board, without any chance to plan or prepare ahead of time...

It all reminds me for some reason of a quote by the poet Robert Frost: "Home is the place where, when you have to go there, they have to take you in."

I plan to stick around here, and I am glad Mr. Bopp resurrected his boards, but isn't it interesting how they disappeared right before the 5th largest quake in the past 100 years? (Geez, it only took an 8.8 to bring to those boards right back!!! lol)

To me, it seems like a good thing that besides Earthboppin' we now have this place, and skywise's place, and of course we can all read JOB's SyzygyJob boards even if we are not subscribers...if anything happens to knock one place out, whether a natural disaster or some other unforeseen circumstance, we have other "meeting places". Kind of like how families are supposed to have a plan for alternate meeting places other than home/work in the event of a large quake...I feel like we are now better prepared for whatever else may be in the works!

(And I, for one, suspect that we ain't seen nothin' yet...)

I have a weird feeling that the next big one in the lower 48 will be in the PNW.

Can't argue with you on that one, though I hope it doesn't come to pass.

From what I see, people are not ready for that here.

    Infrastructure? Nope, not ready.

    Supplies? Nope, not ready.

At least I know people will pull together and help each other out, though, so at least we've got that.

Now go to sleep, it's late, why are you (and I) still awake? lol
