Why thank you Calibabe. I...err...borrowed it one day from one of the conspiracy forums this nite owl lurks @ to read. It fit my mood that nite just fine. But I'm not a grouch......usually. Not since I safely passed into no more monthly cramps or hot flashes territory.
It would have been nice to have been able to let the health insurance salesperson yesterday see my av as I tried to get new individual health insurance coverage here in NY State. My last policy was abruptly canceled by NY State 12/31/09 after 3 years. I had downsized then to a cheaper policy. I am blessed & can afford coverage though I am single & retired. I guess they got in trouble for writing coverage for an unemployed, retired peep over 60, by calling her self employed. NY State will kindly help me with coverage, but only if I was employed this past year. I retired from active nursing 10 years ago but have had health insurance as an individual the past 10 years.
Sure is fun to find myself smack dab in the middle of the national health care reform mess. NOT! I can afford a reasonable monthly premium but the only 2 Health insurers allowed or daring to write policies in NY seem to want to stall me getting any coverage. I have a month's wait for the online application I filed 15 days ago before I have coverage. Bit dicey that. They prolly want a better chunk of my monthly premium before the reforms set in. Oh wait! Those with individual coverage are usually in that 60 to 65 range not eligible yet for Medicare & prone to have huge medical bills supposedly. So we have to pay more & then also pay more for all those who don't have any health insurance at all. I almost forgot the health insurer's rote reply. My bad. But this old rn stays as far away as she can from being ill. Herbs & Homeopathic meds do wonders.
NY State came up with their own health program 10 years ago called Healthy NY. A few other states also adopted a similar policy. But you have to be employed in the past year or eligible for Cobra coverage to be qualified to get any help form the state. What a racket.
Please excuse my rant.
It was a very eye opening day yesterday. My poor 4 year old cat most likely had my av look on her as she kept being chased away from the computer as I was trying to make sense of the nonsense I was running into.I dumped my landline phone from Verizon last month & replaced it with Skype & a good cell phone. Got to save somewhere.
