I can now claim the title Morfar (Mothers Father in Scandihoovian)... as of today my eldest daughter had her kid...

    Trandyn, 8.8 lbs, 22" long...

Sigh... I feel good!... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I've heard at least three times today "You need to start acting like a Grandpa!"... to which my answer each time was "NEVER! Har Har Har!"... pirat

I still feel good! Crappy mood all day (work)... then I get the call on my last break... all is good with the multiverse!... alien

On this fine day, I wish you all the best!... Exclamation

Wow, congratulations on your Grandchild. What's with these big babies? 8lbs 8 oz and 22" long. I hope that Mother and baby are doing well - I sure can tell that Morfar is doing alright! Where's my Bubble Gum Cigar? In fact, La Man owes me one too. If you don't have the bubble gum type, I will take a Cherry Soaked Crook! lol
Is this your first Grandchild RIG ? you WILL start acting like a Grandpa, carrying photos of the baby, gouchy-gooing the baby and making an ass out of yourself playing, but that is the fun part. I agree, we can enjoy the Grandkids without acting old. Again, Congratulations to you and your family RIG. cheers

Congrats! Grandkids are great! What is he going to call you when he gets older? My son-in-law likes to get his digs in on me by trying to make my grandkids call me granny but they are smarter than him and know the correct term in the south is "mammaw"...(okay meemaw is okay but we prefer mammaw)...Cool

Ok, funny story of me as a little kid (4 years old, I think)... the grandparents on mom's side were called Mormor and Morfar (Mother's Mother and Mother's Father)... that's simply what I knew... now (then) and 4 or so, I meet my dad's folks and Grandpa and Grandma just wouldn't do apparently, so I sat for a few minutes thinking and decided that they would be called Mamoo and Papoo... What a Face

Yes, I've been a little off my whole life!... tongue Very Happy

    LOL!!! ~rig~

    i am granny.

even my husband and children call me 'granny' in front of our grand children.

i had a granny! and my granny had a granny! i loved my granny and she loved me more than any elder i had. she was my dearest teacher and friend...i only now appreciate that.

originally my granny's line was from sweden Surprised)

so many of the names i call the stars and earthpov things are from her gentle sweet mouth Surprised)

i miss her presence daily...she died when i was 8 months pregnant with my next to last child Surprised(

yet, she is with me daily...in all that i do she has been there as a teacher.

many of my skills were learned at her knee.

remember the face of your fathers ~rig~

and teach your granson to remember the face of his fathers.

only blessings can come from thisward.

    blessed be!

    dear rig and family~

    a clan of life

    yes! dear ~grits~ i know many mamaw's and meemaw's ...i have my own granmaw...on mama's side.

in the mountains...granny is what we are blessed to be named by our grandkids ~giggle~

only the folk whom knew my granny understand why i delight in that title.

'granny' is a title of deep respect....amongst the mountain folk.

in the piedmont where i dwell...no one is named as granny...they are g-maw,
grimmy, nanny, mams, mamaw, meemaw, meemee, grandmother__________{whatever name, such as ruby)

any ole way...all of these are titles of deep love and respect.

if'n we all still lifed the old ways....we would be proud of our titles.

    spiritually..we are these noble titles.

my grandkids dubbed my husband as 'POPBEAR'.

i think, it is acause when grand daughter was born....he had very long red hair...all the way to his waist, as well as a beard so red Surprised) like a bear he appeared ~giggle~

he has since cut his long hair and beard...so now they call him popbear....and sometimes pop Surprised)

so they are blessed with a granny dove....nanny rabbit (their daddy's mom) and a popbear Surprised)

the only other grandfather they know, is my first husband, the father of 3 of my children...including their mama...they call him 'mister custer'.

even tho i have explained all of this to them...they won't 'git it' til they are middle aged.

delight in the children of our life we should...yet...we are teaching them their birthright.

we were not aware of this ...because our fathers forgot the face of their fathers.

and at times our mothers despised the face of their mothers.

    and so life moves on....

to a place our grandchildren shall take it unto

    bless our grandchildren i do!

may our children remember our faces!

and delve into the love and wisdom we gifted them.
