A Classic is a Classic for a reason

Post  Calibabe on Thu 11 Mar 2010, 8:13 pm

As Socal can tell you all, I am a huge fan of "The Wizard of Oz". I can literally sit and have the movie on and do every line from the movie word for word for each character. In fact this past Christmas, my son got me the 70th anniversary edition of "The Wizard of Oz" and it is a very low number in the lot that was made.

That said, when I picked up the newspaper (LA Times) this morning from our driveway the first thing I noticed was a picture of Judy Garland as Dorothy and below it was the following:

The thought of them remaking this movie makes me sick to my stomach Evil or Very Mad There is an old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Doesn't anyone in Hollywood have an original idea in their heads, without having to go to this classic to remake it?

I for one will not see ANY remake of this movie Twisted Evil Some things should remain the same. There is a reason why this movie is so fondly remember and re-watched every year it is on.

Anything for a buck, eh? No doubt the sheeple will be rushing to see it, but I'm with you on this one!

Remember several years ago when somebody had the brilliant idea to write a sequel to "Gone With the Wind"? What a waste of money that was! I suppose now we can look forward to a remake of that movie, too. affraid

Why I rarely bother with movies...

So, Mom... Who should be Dorothy? I can pitcure it already. Megan Fox as Dorothy and the Beverly Hills Chihuahua as Toto. Ok, I'm just kidding. I know this would ruffle your feathers, I heard about it 2 or 3 days ago from JR when he saw it on G4TV when they were talking about the Alice in Wonderland success and that came up as something the studios are really looking into.

I was pretty sickened. Just like I was when I heard they were re-making Clash of the Titans. I'm sorry, but the only Clash of the Titans I will watch is with Harry Hamlin,Judi Bowker and by Ray Harryhausen.

This remake of it just doesn't interest me from the previews. I'll be a bad girl and buy it on bootleg if I really want to watch it!

Long live the originals of any movie! Especially The Wizard of Oz an Clash of the Titans Smile

Yeah, I won't be seeing "Clash" either. Still like the original. Bubo the owl was one of my favorites from that movie. Hated the Kraken though. Kind of thought that the Kraken in "Pirates of the Caribbean-At Worlds End" was a little creepy too, but the original with all those arms grabbing and those teeth, YUCK!!! Although I have to say that the Kraken blowing all that goo over Johnny Depp was rather gross as well. Now Johnny Depp on the other hand is never gross. That is one of the reasons why I want to see "Alice".

I will just be unglued and your right my feathers will be ruffled in a big way if they decide to remake that movie. Right now from what I understand they are getting a lot of flack about even considering that idea. Good. I hope people keep on contacting them. I plan on doing so. Might even pull the old "I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too" voice on them Laughing
