Today, I woke up on my 29th birthday..energized, the day off and ready to go have an amazing day. I had already pre arragned to go riding horses with a woman named Sue who had 2 horses.
I never imagined that I'd have as an amazing day as I did..... I climbed hillss, galloped alongside bulls, cows and calves... Saw the Channel Islands from 1,500 feet up...galloped through fields of tall grass while looking at the coast and Channel Islands. My day was so amazing and more than I ever could have wanted. I wandered around a prestigious horse farm greeting the various horses.. saying hi, mucking the stall of my mount for the day. The houses around the property of this ranch were unbelievable. I don't recall seeing anything like it in my life. I wish I would have taken pictures.
It had been a while since I had seriously been on a horse, let alone rode with someone who is knowledgeable. In no time, she took me up steep hills, crests and rough terrain. I felt great that she felt I could handle the change in terrain from what she saw in those brief moments.
There were various spots while either going uphill or downhill that there were open areas and I galloped around like nothing mattered. The downhill ride was a bit scarier and intimidating.. Haha. I got back to the ranch and rode in the arena for a while. Mixed the bucket full "goulash" for a treat after riding...mixed with grain, honey, oats, etc.. and fed it to my amazing horse.
All in all, it was an amazing day and I hope to ride this horse again!!
