    May 2014 Seeds Atsilvsgi

In January 2014 I picked up a Cherokee calendar which was very tied to cycles of varying lengths and symbolic significances.  Today, May 4 2014 being the day of "dotsuwa" which is translated into a Cardinal bird, or a red bird, I thought I'd bring up that a little birdie inspired me to begin the month with an alternate culture more tied to the earth and its cycles rather than to the concept of valley of tears (i.e. groans and pains and tones).

Tomorrow, Cinco de Mayo festivities happen, and the day coincides with an important day in the Cherokee calendar, namely the flower day or Atsilvsgi.

BoppinAlong community - sometimes we can bop along too quickly and gloss over the community day.  So by bringing to remembrance: things involved with culivating Atsilvsgi, which is translated as flower, maybe we can pause to give thanks to our Father for things that have brought beauty and flowering to our lives associated with things in our community.  To me up here in New England, my yard has been slower than usual to emerge from the budding stage.  the budding stage still has a protective sheath around the flowers that have now just started to emerge.  So, although we are no longer starting seeds in peat pots (that was SO two months ago), we are starting to consider when to plant for the year up here in the Northerly latitudes.  So, flower day for me will be a day when I say a few prayers that what will be coming forth from the newly emergent growth will be positive, and also to give thanks for the abundant plants around here.

To so many that contest for ownership over the abundance - notice that your activities will not bring forth the abundance unless your activities are blessed.  This year the "Long Bodies" (rough translation of a word corresponding to meteors) the Eta Aquarids shower is scheduled to peak for May 6.  Be ready - when a community day corresponds to a meteor show, it makes one even more ready to deal with all things unexpected and going "hot".

This may seem unusual for you folks but today is 5/8/2014 and Guerrero Mexico just suffered a 6.8 EQ at about 1700 UTC. So believe me, I was dealing with some phone calls in general from that area for business reasons and it was muchos hairy. Every body here and south of the border today was out and out dealing with the static by making scads more of their own static ! Whoa ! Community needs step by step history of the difficulty and then step by step mitigation of the difficulty. Static can become a misery when it goes on too long.

Mid-May already And the Unsettling Surprises are Endemic

Mid-May already and the weather has been unsettled. Half the plants decided to come up but the others are still shy about bursting into full bloom here in new england. Human economic activity seems to be settled into negative territory -- everybody is trying to find out via rumor mill what the next part of the script will be.

I have bad ear tones again today, but we're in a waning moon so I keep expecting that the risky behaviors on the part of my fellow drivers should be reduced -- but no ! People were driving closer than Ben Hur to his ex-Centurion buddy.

Timeline here showing evidence of yet another bifurcation. Distances are shifting between objects - so that the distance between House X and House Y has changed from one fixed number, say 600 feet, to a second number that is larger than 600 feet. Anybody noticing this?

The Annuals are in the Ground but haven't settled in Yet

In keeping with the leaves that were slow in bursting out earlier this month - they finally did so around May 20... now we have the annual flowers planted in the front flower bed and they are shy about blooming right now.  The temperature here this evening started at 50 degrees fahrenheit and now dropped to 46.

I am noticing a shrinking number of people going to the stores in my neighborhood.

I'd like to feel comfortable in my area, but now it looks like we are dealing with a lot of people who are reducing their activities around here.

I think it's more than the Bruins losing the Stanley Cup to the Canadiens...  it's signal that people are curtailing their evenings at an earlier hour.  Even the new X-Men movie at the local theaters wasn't a sell-out.

I send cheerful wishes to everyone.  Life is more than a few annuals, a hockey trophy for the local pro team, and an X-Men movie -  but it's sunshine.  Oopsy... Boston had only 1 sunny day this month 2014 May so far.  So - we're not the sunshine state...

We are going to stay the course here and keep up with the yard maintenance and the outside grilling despite the cold.    All the best from beejean.
