Burning Man 2010 anyone? Empty Burning Man 2010 anyone?

Anybody going this year? I've been to it the last five years. Great for 'prepping' if you're a survivalist. A leave no trace event that seems like a week long carnival. That's a poor description. Everyone who goes has a different experience from it. Very unique and the only one in the world. At one point it houses 50,000 people and becomes Nevada's 3rd largest city. Beautiful landscapes and amazing art, both day and night. No commerce allowed, no buying or selling. All just for the sake of living without restriction to creativity. I like it.

I've never been, mostly because I can't afford to shell out the $250 for a ticket/pass nor take the time off of work Sad I've always wanted to go though, and have many friends who make the journey each year. One day, I will do it. It's on my list of things to do in life... Must have a camper though with all the dust and sand storms blowing there.

Burning Man 2010 anyone? Empty One can apply for a reduced fee ticket

Post  OregonGuy Thu 18 Mar 2010, 4:43 am

A one time only scholarship or hardship ticket will bring the price down to $110 and $160. I won a scholarship this year. Last year I sought gas paying riders to share the travel costs. Worked out well, I think just $100 round trip for me.

This year I have a older motorhome(my first) I plan to take. Still have to go through it to test mechanical systems prior to trip. Might even add a two person, four wheel pedal car to tool around the playa.

I have one person who said they'll go and I figure I might be able to take up to 6. Leaving from Portland, Oregon. Not many would be able to bunk in the motorhome unless I do some remodeling to it.

I'll post a Burning Man camp name on this board in case anyone from here can make it to the Burn.

It is plenty of fun, hope you can find a way to get there!

When is it this year exactly anyway?..I thought someone said they raided, "Feds"
wiht helicopters to try to get it stopped an year or so ago. It's well known by now, doubt they make it stop..people like the "freedom" of it to much these days...esp the generations that remember the old "hippy type" get-togethers...pass it on if its possible to the next generation. Best of luck and enjoy it.

Burning Man 2010 anyone? Empty August 30 to September 6th, 2010

    Hi Kemokae,

Still going strong though numbers are down slightly last year. See http://www.burningman.com/ for details.

Going to it gives me a goal, not much else inspires me. Burning Man represents freedom of sorts. A place where 'materialism' or keeping up with the Joneses, means a crazier art car or glow wire night costume. It's a carnival of creativity, how many places or events offer that anymore?

The best part is you bring to it what you want out of it. Everyone has a different experience which is pretty amazing when you think of it.

Not entirely a dreamland experience due to the heat and blasting dust storms. It can get really cold at night too.

My work has slowed down some and it looks like this years trip will be a financial crisis, I have to go because it keeps me going.

    Best to you,
    OregonGuy
